Date Night: Group Date Turn Around

I waited a long time to publish this post because I am pregnant and get emotional and I needed time to calm down and....and....

Last month I planned a group date based on this idea from Dating Divas. It was getting six couples together to play Bunco. I had never played before but it sounded like fun and I wanted to give couples that I knew an opportunity to get out that don't normally get out. Three of the six couples for what ever reasons were unable to attend and the whole time my husband thought that it was a dumb idea. Oh well.....sigh. So with three couples in attendance I moved the date to my house (we were going to go to our church to accommodate that many people (my next house will be able to....dream)) and we had ourselves a great time playing Apples to Apples and Star Wars Epic Duels (Yeah we're nerds).

 The Spread
Pie crust cookies, Strawberries, Bananas and Marshmallows all for the dipping in the chocolate. I think I ate the most of this.
Seven or six layer dip. What ever it was good and my husband and I ate it over the next few days.

Here is what I learned:
Keep it small - only invite two other couples to begin with. It is easier to accomidate.
Keep it simple - Big plans can happen but life is easier if you keep it simple.
and
Don't SWEAT it! My husband calms me and tells me when things will go wrong. Why don't I listen?

  1. This is Leah's husband. Leah didn't explain why I thought the idea was dumb so I will.
    1. Bunco, a game that has absolutely no strategy (even Yahtzee and Liars Dice have strategy), didn't sound very fun.
    2. Based on number 1 I was pretty sure that not all the couples she invited would actually come (and you NEED 12 people to play that game).
    3. Despite 1 and 2 Leah had no back-up plan and refused to come up with one even though I strongly suggested it and even volunteered to help with it.

Needless to say we needed a back-up plan, but we did still have a lot of fun with the friends who did show up. I appreciated the thought and effort Leah put into this date night, but next time we are inviting less people and NOT playing Bunco... EVER!
